Find Top-Ranking Schools in Bay Area’s Affordable Neighborhoods

Can you have your cake and eat it, too? What if we told you that we always get the same type of question from families looking for corporate housing in California? The question goes like this: Do we have a rental that is both close to their work and close to a good school district? In many cases, guess what parents end up choosing?

If you’ve heard about the importance of location, it will almost always fall on deaf ears when you ask parents. Finding a good school district for their kids is the priority. In fact, they are only too willing to live in a shoebox for the opportunity to have their kids get into the best school.

Based on these requirements, California Corporate Housing makes it a point to offer both the ideal home and ideal school following RealtyTrac’s study. We say you can have your cake and eat it, too.

RealtyTrac analyzed school test scores for nearly 25,000 elementary schools in more than 7,5000 US ZIP codes, along with home price affordability in those same zip codes to identify the top zip codes with the ideal combination of good schools and affordable home prices–and also with low unemployment rates below the national average. It also looked at zip codes with good schools and the least affordable home prices.

Here are a few of the top-ranking elementary schools in the Bay Area’s most affordable neighborhoods:

  1. Forest Park Elementary, Fremont. The school’s 2013 test scores were 57 percent higher than the average of its peers around the state.
  2. Gilroy Prep, Gilroy. It got a score 56 percent higher than its California peers.
  3. Hidden Hills Elementary, San Ramon. It  scored 55 percent higher than other elementary schools around the state in 2013
  4. Jensen Ranch Elementary, Castro Valley. With a score 56 percent higher than schools around the state, it’s also the most affordable ZIP code in the Bay Area.
  5. Tom Matsumoto Elementary School, San Jose. The school’s 2013 test scores were 59 percent higher than the state average.
